Your First Steps, Demystified

Starting therapy or an IOP program can bring up many questions.

Here’s what you can expect at each stage of care—so you can begin with confidence and clarity.

For Individual Therapy

What is therapy like?

Therapy is a conversation where you can explore your thoughts and emotions without judgment. Your therapist will listen, guide, and help you find tools to cope and grow.

How long are sessions?

Most sessions last 45–55 minutes. The frequency (weekly, biweekly, etc.) depends on your goals and availability.

How long will I be in therapy?

Everyone’s journey is unique. Some clients meet short-term goals in a few months; others continue long-term for ongoing growth.

What kinds of therapy do you use?

Our clinicians use evidence-based methods such as CBT, DBT, trauma-informed therapy, and motivational interviewing.

For Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)

How does IOP differ from regular therapy?

IOP offers a structured program with multiple weekly group sessions, individual counseling, and education. It provides accountability and community for clients in recovery.

How often do I attend?

Most IOP clients attend 3–5 days per week, either in-person or via telehealth, depending on the program level.

What topics are covered?

Topics include relapse prevention, coping skills, family education, emotional regulation, and recovery planning.

Will I have support after IOP ends?

Yes. Graduates are encouraged to join aftercare groups and ongoing therapy for continued support.

What Clients Often Say

I was nervous before my first session—but I felt comfortable within minutes. It’s not clinical or cold. It’s real, caring, and helpful.”
